STRESS TESTING

Stress testing (or graded exercise testing) is a practical means of assessing the body’s capability to do physical work. In our lab, the test involves walking on a treadmill. At the same time, an electrocardiogram records the hearts response to physical stress. Blood pressure and heart rate are also monitored frequently throughout the test.

  Reasons for the testing are:

  1) detection of disease
 2) evaluation of surgical and medical treatment

 3) assessment of  physical work capacity
 4) for safe and effective  exercise prescription
